Day 9

Day 9
9 November, 2014
8:57 p.m.

This morning, we woke up at 7:12 a.m., we had sweet pastries, and a latte for breakfast. An hour later, we got ready to go to Pollino National Park. To get there, we traveled by bus. Once we got there, the staff greeted us, and told us a little about the place. It's the largest Italian national park, and used to preserve the rare Loricato Pine. The mountains are made up of morainic deposits, dolomitic rocks, glacial cirques, and scattered with caves and gorges. At it's highest peak, of 2,200 meters above sea, it is usually covered in snow, year long. You can see the Tyrrheanian Coast, towards the West, and the Ionian Coast, towards the East. It's a very beautiful place to travel. After that, we met our tour guide, Antonio. He was 25 years old, and very nice. He to us to the top of the mountain, after a long day of sight-seeing, and hiking. I would highly suggest going there, I'd even go there again! On the way home, our bus driver stopped at a restaurant, we just got some pasta, since we were tired, and not looking for anything too exciting. It took us awhile to get back, but it was great when we got here.
